Build Process in Detail
Site visit: Before the team starts any project, they like to come and meet you. The boys enjoy having an informal meeting to get to know potential clients, get a feel for the location, your ideas and what you are looking to do.
Planning: Before a formal quote can be issued, the boys require building or renovation plans with completed engineering requirements. The team can assist you with draftsman, architect, and surveyor services.
Contact signing: After the plans have been reviewed. A formal meeting will be organised to present you the build quote and discuss the timeline and any building amendments or options. Once all options and amendments are finalised, you will be presented with a Master Builders approved contract for signing.
Deposit stage: Once the contract is signed, to officially start your build or renovation a 5% deposit is required.
Base stage: Most builds will be completed with either a concrete slab on the ground, or timber frame on stumps. If we’re building or renovating your home with a concrete slab on ground, the base stage is classified as being complete when the concrete slab is poured. In the case of a timber floor, the base stage is classified as being complete when the stumps, piers or columns are complete.
Frame stage: The stage when a home’s frame is completed ready to progress into roof and window installation for lockup stage.
Lock-Up stage: Once the home’s external wall cladding and roof covering is installed, the flooring laid (if on stumps) and the external doors/windows installed (includes temporary doors/windows).
Fixing stage: The stage when all the internal cladding, architraves, skirting, doors, built in shelves, joinery, cabinets or cupboards of a home are fitted and fixed in position. May or may not include basins, sinks, baths, bench-tops – depends on preservation requirements of items for handover.
Completion stage: The completion of building works according to the build contract. Decks, appliances, carpet and outstanding items from fix stage are installed at this stage.
Earthworks (optional): Sloping sites requiring excessive excavation, or retaining walls, can often lead to the introduction of an ‘earthworks’ stage being implemented into the contract.
